GM – Business Development and Marketing India
Our client is large, privately-held US commercial automotive component manufacturer. They are currently seeking a GM for their joint venture in India.
Area of Accountability:
Plan and directs all aspects of the Business Development Strategy and Marketing activities in close coordination with other members of the management team. Plan, develop and execute market penetration strategies, establish contacts with decision makers at targeted companies and establish goals for new business opportunities.
Major Responsibilities:
- Directs feasibility studies/business plans for product development efforts.
- Examines, analyzes, and interprets market information to develop strategic marketing responses to competitive threats and opportunities.
- Examines and identifies business opportunities for market share expansion.
- Identifies new products and market opportunities in India to win new business and exploit opportunities.
- Regularly interacts with the JV management on matters concerning engineering and/or customers.
- Develops and enhances the overall relationships with customers in the region to accelerate growth opportunities and introduction of new technologies and to expand markets
- Keep up to date on competitor information with regard to product and marketing strategies.
- Work closely with operations, giving insight into potential methods to improve global supply chain.
- Develops and implements a local branding strategy to raise the company’s profile in India as a superior quality and technology brand.
- Analyzes market trends, recommend changes to marketing and business development strategies.
- Participates in corporate marketing activities, including communication and brand management strategies.
- Coordinates marketing processes, especially related to the introduction of the company’s products.
- Maintains business relationship with OEMs and works closely with them to develop new business opportunities and identify and coordinate resolution of problems with all OEM and fleets.
- Sets priorities for field coverage activities and develops plans and strategies in coordination with Sales, marketing managers, engineering, etc.
- Develops information about competitors, dealers, and end users. Provides feedback on customer service, delivery performance, marketing programs, forecasts and product performance.
- Leads quotations for new programs and/or new customer.
- Leads product competitive pricing analysis.
- Coordinates trade shows.
- Supports product engineering and development for new market applications and be the unifying factor which holds the JV teams together and functions to create a common culture of consistent and similar practices between the JV partners.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education:
- University degree, preferably in technical area (mechanical engineering)
Qualifications:
- Bilingual – English required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in technical, sales and managerial roles.
- Strong management skills and proven ability to develop business plans and budgets.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex issues.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Team player.
- Strong knowledge of product line and customers within India and the commercial vehicle industry.
- Strong business acumen with previous experience in leading a P/L business unit.
