06/6/2011 | Singapore Visa Program
QUESTION:
I’ve been told Singapore is strict about its work visa program for foreign workers. Is the program a big hassle?
REPLY:
The program can be a little troublesome, but it’s certainly manageable. It’s true that Singapore carefully monitors foreign worker visas. There are 3 visa options available for foreigners:
1. The “P” Pass is normally for executives, managers, and professionals, and it requires certain skills and professional qualifications.
2. The “Q” Pass requires some specialized skills and qualifications, but has lower income requirements.
3. The “S” Pass is generally for those with less education or specialized skills.
Each pass has a certain cost per month, in which the “P” Pass is the most expensive, and the “S” Pass is the least expensive. Additionally, all foreign nationals must register with the Ministry of Manpower.
