Michelin, the Worldwide leader in Tires, with a commercial presence in over 170 Countries, is recruiting for a Materials Research Engineer for our R&D facility. If selected for this position, you will receive personalized training for two years in Greenville, SC to prepare you for work in Chennai, India.

The Material Research Engineer performs mid-term and long-term studies and projects on material prototypes or processes, materials and rubber compounds' structure properties' relationships in conjunction with tire designers and analysts, rubber compound designers, analytical chemists and/or outside partners (universities, suppliers) in order to create, improve and service new or existing materials for tire applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an individual contributor in a Material research team
  • Identifies, researches and develops new materials or processes that can improve the performance, cost and/or quality of the tire
  • Defines, plans, conducts/leads technical and material studies along objectives and general orientations (bibliography, research plans, resources, schedule, experimental designs and implementation, results analysis)
  • Reports on these studies (reports, minutes, seminars)
  • Works with tire designers and analyst, material designers, chemists, technicians and workshop professionals to conduct his/her projects and achieve goals
  • Exchanges and consolidates expertise and collaborates with worldwide research counterparts (Europe, Asia)
  • Proposes, fosters and conducts technical collaborations with outside partners (universities, suppliers)
  • Contributes to the progress plan of the material department and research center (training, teaching)

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Material Science or Chemical Engineering
  • Legally authorized to work in India
  • Industry experience required
  • Expertise in nanomaterials welcome
