Quality Control Manager

InterDesign, Inc. is an award winning manufacturer of housewares products for the kitchen and bath.  Due to our continued growth we seek to employ a Quality Control Manager in China.

The Quality Control Manager will be expected to implement, manage and continuously improve the InterDesign quality programs.  These programs will encompass:

• Product inspection
• Packaging inspection
• Factory compliance with social, ethical and security standards as dictated by the Chinese Government, InterDesign and InterDesign's retailers

The Quality Control Manager will report to the Director of Asia Operations and be responsible for hiring, training and managing a team of inspectors and auditors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Implementing a factory compliance program with the ability to:
  • Audit 30+ factories in various locations
• Document and communicate infractions
• Facilitate factory preparation for retailer requirements
• Follow-up on corrective action plans as determined by InterDesign or the Retailer
• Implementing an inspection process with the capabilities to:
• Inspect production prior to shipment (product and packaging)
• Document and communicate the inspection parameters and criteria
• Work with Headquarters to balance quality and execution needs
• Work with factories and testing labs to ensure that required product testing is completed
• Maintain familiarity with US and China laws, regulations and requirements
• Other duties assigned by the Director of Asia Operations and US headquarters

Education Requirement:

• Bachelor Degree, preferably in Engineering or QC/QA related field

Experience Requirement:

• Exporting consumer products from China to the United States (preferably hard lines)
• Management of a quality control program
• Execution of factory audits and product inspections
• Previous experience with major US retailers is a plus (e.g., Wal Mart, Target)
• Team management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Self-motivated and well organized

Physical Demands:

• Ability to travel

Work Environment:

• Frequent travel to factory locations
• Accessibility to US office via conference call
