Michelin, the Worldwide leader in Tires, with a commercial presence in over 170 Countries, is recruiting for a Tire Performance Engineer. If selected for this position, you will receive personalized training for two years in Greenville, SC preparing you for work in Chennai, India.
The Tire Performance Engineer leads the Michelin Research and Development efforts on testing within the Road Hazard team. He/She will sample tires during the testing to better understand field failure mechanisms, and develop analytical test methods to allow assessment of performance of current and future tire designs. With time, she/he may evolve to include tire/vehicle modeling and simulation of road hazards, other endurance parameters, or other aspects of tire performance. Some support of OE development activities is anticipated.
Responsibilities:
- Performs consulting work involving helping users select and use existing tools and methods
- Assists with Hypothesis testing, DOE’s, MSA’s and SPC
- Provides training on existing tools
- Maintains existing tools
- Develops new tools and methods
- Writes specifications, develops algorithms, validates tools, and provides documentation and training
- Collaborates with external research partners, as required, according to the project needs
- Project themes may include signal analysis, optimization, operational research, data mining, Bayesian analysis, statistical reliability, control theory, business analytics, etc.
Qualifications
- BSME degree is required, MSME is preferred
- Legally authorized to work in India
- Ability to work with operators and test engineers in definition, development and execution of new tire testing procedures and analysis
- Basic statistical capability, including linear and non-linear regression is desirable
- Experience with testing procedures and test machinery is advantageous
- Experience applying numerical simulation, including FEA, is useful
- 3-5 years industrial or R&D experience
- French language skill is a plus
