Employer FAQ

1. What makes PBI unique?

PBI is one of the few full-service recruiting firms that specialize in recruiting returnees for Asia. Our returnee focus helps us locate and recruit top-notch candidates who have been overlooked by other employers and recruiters. We have spent years building an extensive network of relationships, not easily duplicated, with the Asian-American community, and are well known and respected by many Asian-American student groups, cultural associations, and other organizations. We continue to build new relationships every day. We also offer comprehensive recruiting and human resources consulting programs and an extensive library of Asian HR information. PBI can help you with all your Asian HR needs.

2. What is the benefit of PBI's returnee focus?

Returnees are bilingual, bicultural individuals who have studied and/or worked abroad and who want to return to their home countries to work. Returnees offer in-depth local knowledge combined with an understanding of Western business practices and, in most cases, a clear command of English. Moreover, few recruiters or employers focus on returnees; PBI's unique specialty is a distinct advantage in recruiting these unique candidates. Please visit our Returnee page to learn more.

3. What are the differences between PBI's various recruiting plans?

Unlike many other recruiting companies, which often focus their efforts on either online recruiting or full headhunting services, PBI offers a variety of recruiting services to fit your needs. Plan A allows employers to post an online job announcement on our site and targets active job seekers. Plan B allows you to develop a tailored recruiting plan specifically geared towards your needs. Plan C, our most comprehensive plan, offers the benefits of Plans A and B and also includes traditional headhunting services. Learn more about our recruiting services on the Recruiting Services page, or contact us for more information.

4. What specific services are available under Plan B?

Plan B encompasses a variety of services that can be individually tailored to a client's needs. For example, you may wish for PBI to solicit and screen resumes for your position and send you the 10 best candidates for you to interview. Or, you may prefer to receive all resumes that meet your general qualifications and screen the candidates yourself. You may be interested in contacting only local candidates, only returnees, or only recent college graduates. Whatever your needs, using Plan B, PBI can create an individually tailored recruiting program for you.

5. How can I tell which level of recruiting service is most appropriate for my position?

Which service level is best for you (Plan A, Plan B, or Plan C) depends on the position for which you are recruiting, the types of candidates you are trying to find, and a variety of other factors. Many qualified local candidates in Asia either do not have regular web access or are wary of submitting personal information (such as a resume) online. Additionally, many of the best potential candidates are currently employed and are not actively searching for jobs. Thus, if you are only interested in candidates currently in the U.S. who are actively searching for a job and you are willing to screen candidates on your own, Plan A will meet your needs. However, if you are interested in local candidates in Asia, trying to attract passive job seekers (those who are currently employed), or need help in screening and evaluating candidates, an individually tailored Plan B program or the full headhunting services offered through Plan C will better suit your goals. For more information, contact us and we will help you evaluate your situation and choose the recruiting plan most suited to your needs and goals.

6. How fast are your recruiting plans in retrieving potential candidates?

Depending on the level of service you choose and the type of position you are trying to fill, response times may vary. Under Plan A, job announcements are immediately placed on our website once payment is received for the job posting; you may begin to receive resumes that same day. The duration of a Plan B recruitment effort will depend on the services you choose, however, you will generally achieve results in 2 weeks to several months. Finally a typical Plan C headhunting project will last three months; this includes all steps from initiating the headhunting project to hiring the winning candidate.

7. How does PBI ensure that I receive only the most qualified resumes?

Jobseekers who use our website are highly educated, bilingual, bicultural individuals, including returnees. When searching for qualified candidates, we only e-mail job advertisements to those candidates that meet the job category, experience level, and language requirements you specify; PBI maintains extensive candidate databases with this information. If you choose to have PBI screen resumes under Plan B or if you use the full headhunting services offered with Plan C, PBI will further assure that you only receive the most qualified resumes through our screening process. If PBI screens your resumes, you are guaranteed not to receive unnecessary resumes or resumes from unqualified or undesirable candidates.

8. How can I attract the highest number of qualified candidates with my online job advertisement?

While our online advertising system does not have any restrictions on length or style, effective job descriptions are generally concise, use bullet points wherever possible to highlight required skills and responsibilities, and focus on the benefits to the employee of working for the company. Describing the company's experience in Asia can also be helpful in attracting candidates. Of course, response to advertisements will also depend on such "non-adjustable" factors as name recognition, salary/benefits and the difficulty of the position described. For more information on how to design a "killer" job advertisement, please contact us.

9. What happens if I sign up for either Plan A or Plan B and do not find the candidate I'm looking for?

If you have tried Plan A or Plan B without success, please consider the full headhunting services offered under Plan C. If you choose to do so, we will credit the amount you paid towards Plan A and/or Plan B to your new account for Plan C.

10. Why should I use Plan C (headhunting services)?

Plan C is the most effective program for companies who are recruiting for a unique position in Asia and who are interested in targeting passive job seekers (those who are already employed) in Asia and abroad as well as those actively searching for employment. Under Plan C, PBI will locate and screen qualified locals, returnees, other bilingual, bicultural candidates, and/or expatriates; interview selected candidates, negotiate contracts and provide consulting services on human resources issues specific to the company's needs. Plan C is our most comprehensive recruitment program and because of the variety of recruitment resources being applied to the company's search, the company is virtually guaranteed success in finding the right candidate.

11. What is PBI's track record for headhunting services?

Since PBI was founded in 1988, we have had a 99% success rate with our headhunting searches. Over the last 10 years, we have completed over 100 headhunting projects. For more information, please view our sample client list.
